A Monk Forgets to Knock

18 Kythorn 1492
As the last of St. Cuthbert’s spirit guardians brained the final kuo-toa, the trio quickly reviewed their options. An open door with a strang idol / altar in the north, the halls and darker stairs down to the west, or they could make their way quietly out of the lair to regroup. They were intrigued by the stairs, destroyed a scrying eyestalk and confirming recent footprints in the darker hall below. They first went to a kitchen in the west, where Bepis Honeymaker put them to work getting a good meal ready. Bepis confirmed that a larger group was dining in a large room to the northwest and the group spied dim movement in another room to the north, but couldn’t invest time in Bepis’ cooking chores.
At the other end of the hall, the trio regarded the closed doors. Would they find their friend? Look for shelter? Nuitt had other plans! Nuitt, perhaps either anxious or bored, decided to brute force the door triggering a large puff of gas that caused short term madness, paralyzing the monk and causing Pessius to lash out and attack the nearest creature. Fireballs and lightning arced through the hall, with Nuitt only able to face the wrecked doorway and guess at the chaos behind him like a really bad episode of the dating game. Froderick restrained himself from hurting his friend, hoping to appeal to family and party ties with Pessius. Pessius levitated Froderick and tried to push him down the hall, but he was able to arrest his travel and ultimately with Nuitt's help bring Pessius her senses by knocking her senseless through some tough Lightbringer love.

In the now open room to the south, Pessius failed to find anything interesting in a desk and chair, Nuitt secured some random loot from two crates, and Froderick found and opened a secret door behind a bookcase. As they pondered the next locked door, Zanalor returned and got a little bit of an earful from Pessius on his reckless action. Zanalor was able to pick the final lock, securing their small sanctuary and relaying some details from his recent walkabout. The crew spent a night underneath a eyeball dome while elsewhere Xanathar started fuming on a missed audience, mobilizing the guild and interrogating suspect lieutenants before taking some quiet time in the crypts.
